Abstract: THE II INDUSTRIAL ZONE, ROME’S EASTERN AREA AND COUNTRYSIDE IN THE TWO DECADES BETWEEN WORLD WARS The theme of this work centers upon the reconstruction of the historical development that brought about the industrialization and the transformation of the eastern outskirts and suburbs during fascism. Taking into close consideration the historical data and examining the interventions had in the vast area the research focuses upon, evidence of tangible signs of strategic industrial relocation discontinuity during the fascist regime has arisen. The inquiry develops around certain fundamental issues that help explain a situation such as this one, having fragmented and contradicting elements: the phases of the business and political debates dealing with the development strategies of Roman industry; the administrative and legislative interventions; the repartition and the consistence of agricultural trade and construction business ownership; the distribution of infrastructures and their functions; sectional probes and urban interventions.
