Abstract:  THE STATUTES OF THE ROMAN ARTS AND TRADES GUILDS IN THE ARCHIVIO STORICO CAPITOLINO The manuscript and modern printed copies of the statutes of Roman arts and trades guild belong to Camera Capitolina material conserved at the Archivio Storico Capitoloni. The analysis of a certain pontifical and Capitoline measures, along with the Camera Capitolina inventories, allows us to reconstruct the events leading to the creation of its original nucleus during the 18th century, in particular, the analysis concentrates on the approval given by Roman Senators and Conservators to corporative statutes, in relation to the municipal statutory evolutions. This, in turn, also sheds light on the institutional reasons that led to the collection of this material in the communal archives. The study also provides methodological notes on the data gathering and analysis and the problems which were encountered, as well as observations on the structure and contents of the examined documents.
