Abstract: ARCHITECTURES FOR THE INDUSTRY. TECHNICAL LITERATURE
AMIDST PROPHECY AND PURSUIT OF INNOVATION
This study proposes a preliminary investigation on the role of technical literature in the designing engineers’ vocational training and professional practice that contributed, in the sixty years marking the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, to the realization of the first significant Roman industrial compounds. In examining the prominent catalogue of the University of Rome’s Engineering Department Library different contributing evaluations, both academically as well as professionally speaking, and diversified formulations of the works with general or specific characteristics come about. In its conclusions, comparing handbooks and completed works, this essay anticipates, that the thorough study which look place in the private professional library of Rome’s Passarelli Cabinet, containing the volumes that belonged to Tullio Passarelli, who in the first decades of the 1900’s planned industry and primary importance commercial trade installations, the possibility of finding new grounds for research.
