Abstract: Notes on the inventory processes of the archives of the Cassa di Risparmio of Rome    The archival collection described in this article is constituted by the historical documents of the Cassa di Risparmio di Roma, an institution founded by pontifical rescript of Gregory XVI on 20 June 1836. This documentary heritage, belonging today to the Historical Archives of Banca di Roma, represents an important point of reference for historical and economic studies. Through the consultation of sets of correspondence, minutes of directors’ meeting and accounting records — above all those pertaining to deposit-taking, an activity that was the primary objective of the institute — it is possible to reconstruct the history of the bank, its gradual development, its internal organizational structure, its relationships with institutions and economic subjects operating in Rome, from the first decades of the nineteenth century. These papers are also an important infomation source from the archival point of view, and allow the reconstruction of the classification pattems, the interrelationships between documents and the arrangement systems adopted during the nineteenth and the twentieth century to file the records.
