Abstract: Since the last fifty years the “Amici di Monte Mario”, one of the longest-running associations in Rome which was founded by Luigi Pallottino in 1969, has published the monthly magazine “Monte Mario” (1969-). The journal, mostly addressed to the inhabitants of Monte Mario District – located in the northwest area of Rome –, spread information, fosters the study and the debate about the issues of the neighbourhood, promoting the knowledge and the enhancement of its historical, artistic and environmental values. This paper reviews all the articles, the studies (including the inedited ones), the reports and the photo features concerning Valle Aurelia district, its widespread heritage, its historic buildings and its recent political and social history. More in detail, the cultural and civic articles concern several areas of Valle Aurelia: the Pineto’s Park and the Casino Sacchetti; the Monte Ciocci’s Park and the Casale Ciocci; the Borghetto (Hamlet) of Valle Aurelia, also called Valle dell’Inferno or Valle dei Fornaciari (Hells Valley or Valley of the Furnace workers), the Veschi Furnace and other furnaces.
