Abstract: The project by Luigi Moretti for Ettore Muti’s own apartment hasn’t been discussed in deapth yet, even if this topic would let us investigate some aspects related to Porta San Sebastiano, to its relationship with history and to architectural purposes of the architect. It’s important to consider historical context of 1930s in Italy and to examine the interaction between fascism and architecture, in order to understand better Moretti works, the eccentricity of furniture used for the apartment and the choice of the most monumental door of Aurelian walls. Moretti’s knowledge of roman culture has been applied here for the exact combination of elements in order to reach a style reflecting Muti’s mood and his vehemence, as he is symbolic and interesting for his role inside fascist regime.
